![]() When in optimal flying conditions, these batteries each offer 38 and 51 minutes of flying time, respectively. The Mini 3 can fly with either the regular Intelligent Flight Battery or the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. That means the drone can still land safely in the event of a dropped signal or low battery. Take-off and landing are automated, and DJI’s QuickShot options help you capture engaging, dynamic footage with ease.Īnd if something goes wrong while the drone is in the air, the Return to Home function will take the Mini 3 back to its starting point. All of the flight controls, exposure controls and color settings are simple and easy to use. In the decade since launching their first consumer drone - the DJI Phantom 1 - DJI has perfected the flying experience in the DJI FlyApp. This is what we have come to expect from DJI drones. Cheap and sturdy.First, the DJI Mini 3 is simple for anyone to set up and start flying. I use it with this tablet holder and it holds my 12.9" (huge) iPad Pro, but it could hold smaller tablets too. There's lots of RC-N1's on ebay for cheap. I like that system sooooo much more than the "DJI RC" remote, no comparison. So I picked up the RC-N1 remote (the one you're supposed to use with a phone) off eBay for $40 shipped and used it with an iPad I already had. I kept noticing all that I missed when I watched the footage back on a monitor. I use mine for filming surf, and I just couldn't see detail on that screen. I got the remote with the screen, but the screen is much too small for me. (Or it charges the stock batteries in 20 to 30 minutes).įurthermore you could save money on the remote. With a super fast charger you can charge the batteries in I think 40 minutes, which is how long they fly for. (I have this one, but any will probably do). No matter what batteries you have, make sure you have a USB-C fast charger of at least 30 watts, ideally one of the 65-watt laptop chargers so you have extra power. And is expandable as you buy more batteries. ![]() This gives you much better range for a bit less money. You can add batteries as you have the extra money. If I was doing it again and was on a budget and didn't care about going over 250 grams I'd skip the Fly More kit and get an aftermarket charger and aftermarket batteries that are bigger than stock. I'm a new drone owner too, and got the mini 3 pro. So I’d pick the pro 3 w 1 battery over the mini 2 with 3 batteries. I almost never use more than 1 on any session. With the long battery flight time on the both, I don’t feel like I need 3 batteries. But if I were buying today I would get the mini 3 pro - for the additional flight modes and camera features. Now that I have the mini 2 and have had it for almost a year, I think it does everything I need. I wanted the mini 3 but ended up getting the mini 2 because a) it was available for in store pick up a week before I left for Scotland and b) it was less expensive allowing me to get the fly more bundle. Both are under 250g and both have long flight times I think this is a nice feature as it can save your drone if you are watching the screen while filming and don’t have a good spotter. The mini 3 has sensors to avoid collisions. I shoot at 4k 30 anyway on my phone as it takes less space and w the drone im taking mostly cinematic type footage anyway which doesn’t require 60fps. I was shooting 1080p 30 w the Spark and that was fine for my needs. That was a cool feature but not super important to my needs. The mini 3 pro can shoot 4k 60 I believe at higher bit rate. ![]() **and I needed it to be in stock the week before I left for Scotland.īoth can shoot 4k. I was looking for a drone w better resolution and more reliable connectivity. I’ve been flying a DJI Spark for like 3 years so have experience flying. If you don’t care about obstacle avoidance, active track, additional flight time, and all the addition features I’m sure you’ll be happy with the mini 2, but if you want a small compact drone loaded with the features of the larger more expensive ones, Mini 3 Pro all day! Avoid my mistakes of going with the cheapest possible option and constantly upgrading. But I’ve actually been completely content and satisfied with the mini 3 pro. I bought the mini 3 pro and I assumed after a couple of months that I would end up buying the air2s, and then the mavic, and so on. I flew the shit out of that mini 2, but then I wanted active track, obstacle avoidance, and a controller with a built in screen. I ended up buying a mini 2 and selling the SE. I started with the mini SE, absolutely loved it and wanted 4K. With that said, I’d go for the mini 3 pro if I was you.
